This year`s edition of the Ciało/Umysł Festival will open with a Dance Battle, loosely corresponding to the tradition of breakdance and rock battles between dancers (boys, rockers), “fighting” with model figures and gestures. During the festival version of the competition six dancers practising completely different types of modern dance referring to different traditions will be competing with each other. They will be accompanied by the MC (Master of Ceremony) - a dancer, animator and radio journalist - JAKUB ŁUKOWSKI, and, invited to take part in the dance competition, participants of the workshops which will be run by the dancers a day earlier.
The dance battle will be held in an exceptional venue, namely on the stage – “a boxing ring” in Hala Gwardii. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (similarly to the twin Hala Mirowska) it used to be the largest commercial centre in Warsaw. Having been handed over to the Gwardia Warszawa club, it became the centre of Polish boxing where Polish boxers used to train. Today`s Hala Gwardii, which is celebrating its first birthday in its new formula, refers to the commercial history and combines good food and culture.
CAUTION!!! WORKSHOPS WITH THE ARTISTS TAKING PART IN THE BATTLE WILL TAKE PLACE A DAY EARLIER, ON 29TH SEPTEMBER 2018.
